பிரசுரிக்கபட்ட திகதி: 23/05/2026 (சனிக்கிழமை)
The annual sacred Kataragama Pada Yatra commenced early this morning, Saturday (23), from the Selva Sannithi Murugan Temple in Thondaimanaru with special poojas and traditional religious rituals.
The pilgrimage began with around 120 devotees, while more than 100 additional pilgrims are expected to join the journey in the coming days.
Recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s longest spiritual foot pilgrimages, the devotees will travel approximately 815 kilometres over 55 days, visiting 108 temples before reaching Kataragama to worship Lord Murugan.
The pilgrimage route will pass through seven districts — Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala — connecting the Northern, Eastern and Uva Provinces through this longstanding spiritual tradition.
