Heavy rains continued to lash several parts of Jaffna Peninsula yesterday and today including Coastal regions of Vadamaradchi of the northern Jaffna, under the influence active North East monsoon leaving agricultural fields, ponds and low lying land in several areas submerged under water and disrupting normalcy of the public.
Met authorities (Department of meteorology of srilanka) said, in its Weather forecast issued on 28th of November 14, today, 0530 hours, Showers or Thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and Thundershowers will develop elsewhere during the afternoon or evening, too and there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers and therefore General public is to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
As per Meteorology department report, today, Jaffna has recorded 120.3 mm of rainfall since 0830 hours and minimum temperatures markedly fell to 23.6 degree Celsius.
