Attractive ‘Tiger hunting’ festival held at Valvai Sri Muthumariamman Temple

An attractive ‘Tiger hunting’ (‘Puli Veddai’ in Tamil) festival was held yesterday at Valvettithurai Sri Muthumariamman Temple, where act of hunting of tigers by Hunters were exhibited as part of long standing traditional event of this temple.
Apart from above, several other events, such as Pea cock dance, Fireworks, demonstration of fire as martial art etc were held at the eastern road of the temple, which lasted from 2100 hours till 2300 hours.
The temple annual festival had commenced on 29th of April, where Chariot festival will be held on tomorrow 13th of May and Holy bath (‘Therththam’ in Tamil) festival is held on 14th of May.
Number of people of Valvettithurai origin, including those living in other parts of Srilanka and displaced people living overseas are attending this annual festival.
