Ministry of Land and Land development of Srilanka has acquired former VKM land (Valvai Kalvi Manram) for establishing a Police station for the town of Valvettithurai – the birth place of Mr.V.Pirapakaran. A public notice of Vadamaradchi Divisional secretariat has been posted in front of the subject building, which is a remarkable place in Valvettithurai, where a very successful private tuition was conducted for many years prior to 1996.
The said land lies along the Point Pedro – KKS road, just 100 meter away fro VVT Junction. The land having an area of 70 perches belongs to Mrs.Thavamani Shekspear, who presently lives in Canada.
It is said that several attempts made by locals and several VVT based organizations to acquire the land for the common cause was not success.
However there were speculations that Government would acquire the said land for establishing the Police station, as presently VVT police station is at VVT junction occupying several civilian houses. Being a densely populated area, Valvettithurai town area does not have any other similar land in the Point pedro – KKS main road, apart from former VKM Building.
