Photo shows a historical ancient pond located at Thondamanaru, Jaffna. The pond has been made by cutting the rocks, where plenty of fresh water is present at a deep of 3, 4 feet.
The locals are using this pond all the way in their life; however the history of the pond is not exactly known now, due to the fact that the note which showed the history had allegedly been taken by some university students for their further studies.
Even though the locals well aware of this pond, but it never drew attention of others, since it is located in a covered area.
Location – Karumpaazhai, about 800m -1000m from Thondamanaru junction, along the Thondamanaru – Vallai road, left side of the road while heading to Vallai, adjacent to Vellankarai cemetery.
