SL Navy & Air force conduct Search and Rescue drill at Valvettithurai Seas

A Search And Rescue (SAR) drill was carried out by Srilankan Navy and Air force off Valvettithurai Seas in the Palk Strait, today at about 1100 hours. The exercise was simulated by air lifting a casualty by an Air force helicopter from a naval vessel attached to Srilankan navy in the Palk Strait, off Orikkadu, Valvetithurai.
The simulated casualty was landed in the Chithamabara College’s play ground by the chopper and exercised continued by taking the casualty to the Hospital by an Ambulance.
It is perceived as the first of its kind ‘Exercise’ carried out in this area. Number of people watched the exercise which lasted till about 1145 hours.
