Annual Vani festival of Vani library celebrated in Valvettithurai yesterday

An event to celebrate the annual Navarathri Vani festival was held in Valvettithurai yesterday 10th of October 2014. The event had commenced at Shinings beach ground at about 1900 hours by lighting the auspicious lamp. Various Tamil and Hindhu related cultural events, including ‘Bajanai’, speeches; dances etc were performed at the celebrations.
A Gas filled Balloon was made to fly into the sky in order to mark the event successful.
Navarathri Vizha is an annual cultural festival in Srilanka celebrating the triumph of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura. Goddess Durga is worshipped by the Hindus to invoke supreme power, epitomizing the triumph of all that is good over evil.
